An important guiding principle in the IB Diploma Programme is that students develop into well-rounded individuals through volunteering outside of school and the classroom. All IB students therefore take part in a CAS programme in which they participate in creative, athletic, and social activities and document their involvement in a portfolio. The following goals should be achieved:

• To discover one's strengths and potential, and to accept challenges.
• To plan and initiate projects as well as group cooperation.
• To demonstrate perseverance and commitment.
• To think outside the box.
• To question the ethical side of your behaviour.

ToK is about connecting the different subject materials and reflecting on their methodologies, principles, and interrelationships. It's not just about expanding one's knowledge of the world, but also about looking critically at the knowledge that already exists. ToK's key questions are: "What is knowledge?" and "How do we attain it?"

• We make connections between a critical approach to knowledge constructs, scientific subjects, and the outside world.
• We examine and reflect on how individuals and communities construct knowledge.
• We develop an interest in the diversity and abundance of cultural perspectives.
• We understand that with knowledge comes responsibility, which in turn leads to commitment and action.

The extended essay (EE) is an individually written term paper with a maximum of 4,000 words in English. The goal is to learn what a research paper is and how to write one through the concept of learning by doing. This includes topic development, material search, structuring the work, outlining, and writing the text as well as a concluding discussion with the subject teacher. 

The writing of an extended essay is intended to prepare students for future university study and is therefore characterised by:

• The development of an original research topic.
• The timely planning and completion of the work project.
• The application of methods and techniques.
• The structuring and evaluation of materials.
• The independent and objective consideration of different possible solutions.
• Organising necessary revision processes.
• The creation of a suitable linguistic style as well as the presentation of the results.
