Into the future with exciting hands-on leaning

At the IB World School and the SGO , we emphasise hands-on learning . Our students participate in numerous projects, events, field trips and competitions. As part of the IB Diploma, the IB subject Theory of Knowledge (ToK) takes students to the ToK conference and Wooga in Wuppertal every year. The ToK subject deals with the individual within the spectrum of a complex world, that sustainably conditions and influences knowledge, identity, and the acquisition of knowledge.

But it never gets boring with biology in action either. Thanks to our cooperation with the University of Siegen, our students are able conduct experiments there on a regular basis. Topics such as the lungs or cell division are being researched. But that is by no means everything: Last year, our IB students took part in an international project and worked closely with various American high schools on engineering issues. As a reward, they toured the USA during the summer.

IB Students travel to the USA

From Boston to New York

Before the summer holidays, the IB students worked on two engineering issues in cooperation with various American high schools. They worked on an international project on the topic of production processes at Schlüter Systems and the Kirchhoff Mobility Group. To share their experiences in person, the students travelled to the USA. In addition to the exchange, other exciting activities were also on the agenda. From company visits to rafting tours, they had unforgettable experiences.

WOGA Wuppertal

In the pursuit of art

Visiting Wuppertal's galleries and studios. The trip to WOGA in Wuppertal is an integral part of our program. Our IB students immerse themselves in the art of over 200 artists and ask themselves a wide variety of questions such as "How would you explain art to a Martian?" or "Can a work of art be unsightly or disturbing and still be great art?" Our IB students can draw on these aesthetic impressions and experiences for their own personal benefit as well as for their academic pursuits.

ToK conference

Discussion panels and networking

ToK (Theory of Knowledge) is one of the IB programme's subjects and deals with the individual within the spectrum of a complex world, that sustainably conditions and influences knowledge, identity, and the acquisition of knowledge. Together with our IB students, we participate in the ToK conference every year and spend an exciting weekend with teachers and students from over 100 nations with workshops, discussion panels and much more.
